The Best ACT Reading Practice Tests and Questions
The Best ACT Reading Practice Tests and Questions SAT / ACT Prep Online Guides and Tips Doing well on ACT Reading requires a fair amount of practice, especially if youââ¬â¢re not used to the format and timing of the test. In order to get the most out of your study time, you need to be using the highest quality practice materials available to you. In this article, Iââ¬â¢ll go through some of the best resources for ACT Reading practice tests and tell you why you should use them! High Quality Practice Tests Are Important for ACT Reading! Many students donââ¬â¢t realize the importance of making sure the practice materials theyââ¬â¢re using are super high quality. If you practice with shoddy materials, youââ¬â¢re going to get shoddy results - thatââ¬â¢s just life. This holds as true for ACT Reading as it does for anything else. Some test prep companies put out books with their own practice questions that are not from the official ACT. DONââ¬â¢T RELY JUST ON THESE QUESTIONS! Some of them are ok, but if you want to get the most out of your practice sessions, you should start with official questions. If youââ¬â¢re not practicing for ACT Reading with real ACT materials, youââ¬â¢re not going to be learning the exact skills you need to beat the test. Since the ACT is a standardized test, the more questions you practice that follow the real ACT standardization model, the easier itââ¬â¢s going to be to understand the answers and feel confident on the real test.On reading, itââ¬â¢s important not only that youââ¬â¢re practicing with real ACT questions but also that youââ¬â¢re reading real passages that were included on the ACT at one time or another. These passages will be calibrated for difficulty level, length, and reading time in ways that only ACT, Inc. fully understands (and that can't necessarily be faithfully replicated by test prep companies). There are two components to each question on the reading section: the question itself and the passage it references. If either one of these components on a practice test is different from what you will actually see on the ACT, you could have a problem with discrepancies between your expected results and your actual results when confronted with the real test. Hereââ¬â¢s a list of different practice test resources in different media that you should use for reliable ACT Reading prep. Free Official ACT Reading Printable Tests ACT Practice Test 2015-2016 (Form 72CPRE)ACT Practice Test 2014-15 (Form 67C)ACT Practice Test 2011-12 (Form 64E)ACT Practice Test 2008-09 (Form 61C)ACT Practice Test 2005-06 (Form 59F) These free PDFs of past ACTs are your best bet to get the most accurate score predictions and most true-to-life practice test experiences.Itââ¬â¢s absolutely critical for ACT practice that you use real questions put out by ACT, Inc. first and foremost, and try to avoid questions devised by test prep companies. The only way youââ¬â¢ll be prepared for the reading questions on the test is if you are used to answering questions with the same phrasing and structure. You want to get used to the types of passages youââ¬â¢ll see on the real ACT reading and what kinds of questions are asked about them. You should also remember to time yourself accurately whenever you take a practice test! That means giving yourself exactly 35 minutes for the reading section.Otherwise, youââ¬â¢re not going to get an accurate picture of your scores in a real test environment. For PDF tests, you should print them out and make a separate answer sheet for yourself to write down the answer to each question so that you can replicate testing conditions as closely as possible. If you really want to replicate testing conditions accurately, you should take it in a school classroom. But only if you have permission. Then again, if you break into your school to take an ACT practice test you might become famous as the world's nerdiest criminal, so there are pluses and minuses. Online ACT Reading Resources ACT Online Program This costs $25 and will give you two extra practice tests.Donââ¬â¢t use it for the actual practice lessons because theyââ¬â¢re not very helpful; itââ¬â¢s just a way for you to get access to some extra official practice questions. PrepScholar Test Prep Platform This is our test prep program which tailors questions to your studying needs. It includes up to 5 official ACTs as a part of your customized study plan. If you click on the link above you cansign up for a 5 day free trial to see how it works! Just to let you know, our questions are technically not official, though our test experts have worked very hard to get them as close as possible to the format of the real test. PrepScholar also costs money after the free trial, but you'll get your money back if your scores don't improve. Print Resources The Real ACT 3rd Edition or "Red Book" This book costs $20.Itââ¬â¢s your best bet for realistic practice tests because it has questions from, obviously, the Real ACT.There are 7 full-length practice tests in this book, and 5 of them are actual previously administered ACTs.Try to lean towards using the most recent practice tests that are included in the book. There is a general consensus that the ACT has gotten harder over the years, so your scores might be skewed high as compared to what you should expect on the real test if you take more out of date practice tests. While this book is great for practice materials, itââ¬â¢s not as helpful in terms of test taking strategies, which is why you should use it in conjunction with my next recommendation, the Black Book, so you get the best of both worlds. ACT Black Book This book costs $20 as well.It doesnââ¬â¢t have practice questions of its own, but you can use it alongside the Real ACT 3rd Edition or ââ¬Å"Red Bookâ⬠because it refers to questions in the Real ACT 3rd Edition as examples. You can't use the Black Book in isolation. The Black Book is helpful because it provides a no-nonsense approach to the test that works across subject areas. Itââ¬â¢s dedicated to teaching you how the test works and how you can beat it.It also gives you in-depth descriptions of the reasons behind answer choices, which are lacking in the Red Book. The Black Book can be wordy and does require a high level of engagement from the reader, so make sure youââ¬â¢re prepared to read closely and pay attention. Youââ¬â¢re going to get out of it what you put in! The Complete Guide to ACT Readingby Erica Meltzer This book costs $30, so itââ¬â¢s a little pricier. It provides realistic passages and questions for you to study from so that youââ¬â¢ll be prepared for anything the test throws at you.It also identifies the skills youââ¬â¢ll need to do well very effectively, even though these skills are more difficult to nail down in reading than in, say, math. You can read our complete review of this book here. Summary In your studying for ACT Reading, always remember to use the highest quality practice materials available to you. This means official questions from ACT, Inc., not questions manufactured by test prep companies that might be easier than real ACT questions or an inaccurate reflection of whatââ¬â¢s covered on the test. You can use one of the free PDFs of past ACTs, reliable online resources, or high quality review books to get the best practice materials. If you can avoid it, donââ¬â¢t settle for anything less than the real thing! What's Next? What Makes a Food Organic Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words
What Makes a Food Organic - Essay Example Such chemicals make the foods lose their natural quality, because they have been raised up in an unnatural environment. We discussed how farmers can make their lands organic by enhancing soil fertility; and, how people can grow foods at a smaller scale at their homes, without the use of chemicals. In this paper, we shall discuss these issues in detail, giving great importance to how a food is made organic, both on small scale at homes and on large scale at farms. Literature has been sought, and may references of scholarly research have been quoted to support the argument that, although it is not scientifically proven how an organic food is more healthful than non-organic food, but it is believed that since organic foods are grown in the most naturally possible way, thus, they are better for health than non-organic foods, whether grown at small scale or large. ... Organic methods employed by farmers guarantee that such food is produced, and on such a scale, that satisfies global requirement without the need to increase or expand the agricultural land base, which is a very big advantage in the current situation of growing population and less land available to adjust it. However, according to Brian Halweil (2006), a Senior Researcher at World Watch Institute, Washington D.C., it is contradictory whether organic food supply can feed the world effectively, since organic farmers have to do a lot of hard work in land conversion; and, the crop yield is often less because the land takes many years to adjust to the conversion process. Whether organic food is tastier than non-organic conventional food is still a debate, but some studies, that have compared the organoleptic quality of both types of foods, have shown that organic food is better in taste and healthfulness (Sample, 2007). Two factors are responsible for this: higher levels of antioxidants a nd lower levels of average crop yields. When the aim is high crop yield, farmers tend to ignore the organoleptic quality of the crops. Availability of nitrogen to foods is also influential upon the quality and taste. Conventional farming involves lower levels of such antioxidants, thus, the integrity of cells is affected. Higher levels of nitrates tend to spoil the food. Since organic foods have lower levels of nitrates, and relatively higher levels of antioxidants, they have longer life when they come to market shelves. There have been many studies comparing organic and conventional apples for taste and quality; and, researchers have found that organic apples come out better, because they store
Literacy Features When I Whistle by Endo Shusaku Essay
Literacy Features When I Whistle by Endo Shusaku - Essay Example Literary features are the tools that the writer uses to help the reader understand what he is trying to say. The basic theme of the novel is about the generation gap between a nostalgic World War II veteran and his ambitious son Eiichi, a doctor by profession. Edno has used his two characters to highlight the difference between the pre and post war generations. Eiichi is the representative of the modern world, which is more materialistic, morally, ethically and socially corrupt. It is evident through his relationship with his father, patients and friends. Ozu, on the other hand represents the past or the pre world war generation, which values life, friendship, morality and ethics. Endo introduces the characters of Aiko and Flatfish to reveal the purity and simplicity of Ozuââ¬â¢s time. Narrative Technique: Endo has used simple prose, which keeps on shifting back and forth into the past and the present. His narrative technique helps him in disclosing the past and at the same time keeping the readers well informed about the present situation. The narrative keeps on shifting between Ozu and Eiichi. As Ozuââ¬â¢s reminiscences moves towards the past, the two narratives come in contact with each other with devastating effects. The third person narrative gives us a detailed analysis of the rift between the father and the son. Symbolism: The characters along with different objects in the novel are highly symbolic. Ozu, Flatfish and Aiko symbolize the past. The simplicity and purity of their relationship symbolizes the simplicity of their time. Eiichi symbolizes the modern materialistic man who is more interested in his own success. Nature is not mentioned when Eiichis life is described, but when the narrator talk about Ozuââ¬â¢s memories, nature is all around, the beach, the rivers and the pines. Edno has used the father and the son as a metaphor to describe the change of values of the post and pre war generations. Eiichiââ¬â¢s generation is

The topic must be related to Working and Education, and something that Research Proposal
The topic must be related to Working and Education, and something that you can do - Research Proposal Example My research topic is: The increasing use of technology in workplace and reduction in human resource needs. Technology has been identified as a boost to the economy. It does not only make work easier but also more convenient and dependable. One form of technology can perform the duties of several workers more efficiently and take less time. As technology use increases in companies and industries, it is agreeable that many people will be losing jobs. Many technical and less skilled jobs are being performed by machines. It reduces the companyââ¬â¢s need for human beings who would be performing these jobs. Since machines are more efficient and have lower operational cost, many companies are taking this opportunity to mechanize their operations as much as possible. Considering the speed by which companies, industries and corporations are being mechanized and comparing it to the increasing number of college graduates each year, there seems to be a looming problem related to human resource. The effect of technology consumption on human resource is, therefore, a topic that is worth researching. Technology is an important development in the world and that its application has made many aspects in life easier. It is agreeable that, the implementation of technology in industries is important and relevant. Lack of jobs resulting from mechanization is something real in many organizations and companies. My research question in this case is: What is the impact of technology and industry mechanization on human resource around the world? This research project is very significant. Besides its relevance in education and work, it also represents a contemporary situation that is awaiting all college student in the near future. The project will, therefore, be important in expanding the level of knowledge. The results from this research can, therefore, be used by any college student or institutional management so as to help prepare the students through education and training
Business Information Systems Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2250 words - 5
Business Information Systems - Essay Example Information system is the hardware and software programs that are developed and are used to assist and help in the management of different functions and operations. They can therefore be used in offices, manufacturing, producing companies and even services delivering companies in ensuring their clients and operation databases are in order. Depending on the scenario in which the information system is supposed to be used, there are different types. These are classified in order to ensure that there is not confusion or mix up when using an information system. After all they are meant and developed to ease and make work less complicated. Information systems and technological advancements are therefore inventions that greatly improve a companyââ¬â¢s efficiency especially if there is a plan to expand and grow the company or organization. Advantages are there to encourage the use of information systems and they include, among others; they allow the central storage and access of information, hence confusion is reduced in a company (Rainer & Cegielski 2010). All information can be acquired about who has done what, what has been or has not been done and even purchases and sales; literally everything can be accessed as long as it was conducted within the system. This also ensures that there is backup in case something goes amiss. Human beings are prone to make mistakes and forget and as long as there is reference efficiency can still be achieved.

The Law Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words
The Law - Essay Example When Arthur is discharged from hospital he discovers that the landlord of his flat, which he was occupying before the accident, has let the flat to another tenant. Arthur applies to the Local Authority for alternative accommodation but is told that he fails to come within the statutory definition of homlessness. In the above there are several issues that need to be discussed on order to be able to discuss the legal actions that might result from the scenario. The issues that require examination are unfair dismissal with regard to the dismissal from work and dangerous driving on the part of Barry. With regard to the injuries of Arthur caused in the accident there needs to be a discussion on the chain of causation to determine whether Barry should be held liable for the suffering caused or whether Arthur has a claim against the doctor for the negligent treatment. In respect of the flat there needs to be a discussion on breach of contract and unlawful eviction as the landlord has let the flat to someone else in breach of the tenancy agreement. In respect of the homelessness there needs to be an examination of the Housing Act 1996 to determine why Arthur is not regarded as legally homeless. Unfair dismissal as is suggested is when an employer dismisses an employee without good reason. In some instances unfair dismissal can be regarded as automatically unfair. This might be the case in situations where the employer has not followed a proper dismissal procedure before dismissing the employee1. In some claims for unfair dismissal the employee has to have worked for the employer for at least a year whereas in other case the year rule does not apply. In recent times the law has been changed by placing statutory requirements on the employer before the employee can be dismissed. Previous legislation used to regard the employee more as a servant to the employer than a contributing member of the workforce2. Section 94 of the Employment Rights Act
Human Biology Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words
Human Biology - Essay Example One of the major influences that made me choose biology as my field of study was my father who is a practicing dermatologist and gynecologist. Also, two of my six siblings have opted for a career in medicine. One of my brothers, who is living in Chile, is a renowned plastic surgeon and another brother placed in Florida is working as an obstetrics and gynecology specialist. Hence it was an easy option for me when it came to selecting my major field of study. Their work and successes have been a huge inspiration to me and have instilled within me a strong urge to pursue a career in medicine specializing in plastic surgery (The Scope of Biology). With one of my brothers being a plastic surgeon, I had developed an interest in the field as it has the potential to bring about a visible change in the lives of many people and help them lead a normal life. Though the concept of surgically changing the physical features of a person was initially restricted to burn victimââ¬â¢s the more rece nt advances has resulted in using plastic surgery for other ailments such as breast reconstruction following cancer treatment, treatment of cancerous skin, repair of cleft lip and palate and for facial reconstruction surgeries. There is also a misconception that plastic surgeons are simply cosmetic surgeons. Scientific Reports has estimated about 80% of the surgeries carried out to be reconstructive in nature as they mainly help to create a visibly pleasing appearance following burns or scaring of body tissues (Freedlander).
