Moliereââ¬â¢s Portrayal of Religion and Religiosity Essay Example for Free
Moliereââ¬â¢s Portrayal of Religion and Religiosity Essay Moliereââ¬â¢s Tartuffe is about a man named Tartuffe who is a beggar and holy man that was recently taken in by a Christian man named, Orgon. Tartuffe has Orgon fooled, but the entire rest of Orgonââ¬â¢s family sees Tartuffe as a hypocritical, self-righteous con artist. Orgon becomes obsessed with Tartuffe and would rather talk and hear about him than his own sick wife. Even though Moliere rewrote this play twice, there are many reasons that the church might still be concerned about the hypocrisy that he used toward Christianity in this play. In 1666 Tartuffe was banned, a play many found offensive because of its assault on church hypocrisy. Many people of the church could still be concerned, due to Moliereââ¬â¢s portrayal of Christianity and how it is almost mocked in this play. Allot of the comedy Moliere portrays is intense focus on Orgon as example of a certain kind of traditional Christian. He isnââ¬â¢t the ââ¬Ëonlyââ¬â¢ type of Christian in this play, but the way he is portrayed is almost in a hypocritical manner. Orgon is so eager to believe Tartuffe, mainly due to the fact that Tartuffe is professing to be another type of Christian. Moliere regards the type of Christian that Tartuffe is as insane. The way mankind is portrayed on behalf of Orgon is almost as depraved as a result of Original Sin, so therefore Orgon has to be subjected, for his own good, to somewhat of a dictatorial control by divinely appointed authorities, or the King. Moliere portrays Orgon as a good Christian man, who is taken advantage of and ultimately almost loses everything because he is willing to take Tartuffe in and treat him as if he were family. The reason the church should be concerned here is the fact that Moliere portrays the way Tartuffe is insane and manipulates the good Christian man. He shows Orgon, the good Christian man as blind to all the wrong, and coming out as essentially the ââ¬Å"loserâ⬠and the insane Christian and manipulator, Tartuffe, comes out with all of Orgonââ¬â¢s belongings. After reading Moliereââ¬â¢s Tartuffe I now can see how the church would be heavily concerned with how Moliere portrays Christianity as ââ¬Ëthe nice guy finishes lastââ¬â¢ with relation to Orgon and Christianity. The church could also see the hypocrisy by the portrayal of Tartuffe as a ââ¬Å"religious con manâ⬠or ââ¬Å"religious fraud. ââ¬

How Frederick Douglass Changed History Essay -- slavery, emancipation pr
There are numerous individuals throughout the past that had the chance to leave a stain in the fabric of history. But, small amounts that stood up and represented slavery in the United States. The immoral selling of beings to becoming a slave is recognized as slavery. Slavery had a huge role in the United States history, getting down in the 1600ââ¬â¢s and was abolished in the 1800ââ¬â¢s. African-American slaves were maliciously being walked on, as if they were carcasses, for a hundreds of years. Although, slaves were prevented from being educated, one particular astonishing African-American fellow was able to change overpass this situation. Frederick Douglass changed the United States for the better. Douglass was born on the seventh of February 1817, in Tuckahoe, Maryland. He was the son of an African- American slave named Harriet Bailey. Though slaves were unable to be educated, Douglass had a huge thirst for learning. He became a self-taught slave child, with a little assistance from his owner. Douglass had gained important knowledge (was now literate), which made him realize that there were many other opportunities to increase his education. After several abortive attempts to run-away in 1836, he then succeeded to escape. Once reaching New Bedford, Massachusetts he assumed the name Douglass (his birth name was Frederick Augustus Washington Bailey). After many years of his educations in England, he was able to buy his freedom before returning to the United States. Douglass later rose through determination, wisdom, and eloquence to shape the American nation. He became an abolitionist, human rights and women's rights activist, public speaker, writer, journalist, publisher, and s ocial reformer. One way Douglass was able to change Amer... ...ower (whites) to take action against slavery. Douglass did not only stand up for slaves but also for womenââ¬â¢s rights, helped lay the groundwork of womenââ¬â¢s suffrage. If Douglass was unable to escape slaver, many civil rights could have been delayed. Works Cited Clark, Charles S. "Feminism's Future." CQ Researcher 28 Feb. 1997: 169-92. Web. 27 Mar. 2014. Day Care Center vs Nanny
There are many parents who are looking for someone who takes care of their children while they are away. Their option will be a day care center or nanny. If you are one of those parents, I want to persuade you not to choose quickly because they are not the same. They provide your child with different environment, you should select after understanding their similarities and differences. The first similarity between a day care center and nanny is that they take care of your child for specific period. Some parents canââ¬â¢t have jobs or study and pursue careers. It is because they have to take most of their time off for taking care of their children and donââ¬â¢t have time to do it. The job of day care provider and nanny is to help those parents by taking care of their children. The second similarity is that a staff in day care center and nanny are trained people. They are educated in early child development or a related field. It means that they can assist your child in developing his academic skills. They can help children with preparation for kindergarten and children who are in school with homework. Also, because they studied early child development or related field, they know childrenââ¬â¢s emotional needs and how to discipline properly. The third similarity is that they have issues with illness. Day care center canââ¬â¢t let you leave your child with them when he is sick. It is because, in the day care center, children are in close contact with other children ant it will let germs spread easily. On the other hand, it is needless to say, but a nanny canââ¬â¢t take care of your child when she is sick either. The first difference is the number of children they take care of. Day care provider canââ¬â¢t take care of multiple children because there are many children in day care center. It means that they will not give one-on-one attention to your child. However, your childââ¬â¢s being among many children will good to your child. Your child will learn how to socialize because he will interact with other children. On the other hand, nanny is responsible for only your child, so your child will be able to open his heart to her quickly. The second difference is the location where they look after your children. Needless to say, if you choose day care center, your child will be taken care of in the day care center. Your child may feel uncomfortable because he canââ¬â¢t move freely in the day care center like he does in his house. On the other hand, nanny comes to your home to take care of your child. Your child may feel comfortable to be in his house, but he will not be able to make friends like he can in a day care center. The third difference is the cost. You will have to pay for day care center between 62 dollars to 320 dollars a week. On the other hand, the cost of nanny is from 350 dollars to 700 dollars a week. The cost of day care center is much cheaper than the cost of nanny, so to put your child into a day care center will help you a lot with money. However, a nanny does things worth the cost. For example, if your child is allergic to a certain food, she will not cook meal that contains that food if you ask her. This will not be done in day care center. As you know now, a day care center and nanny are similar, but not the same. They provide different environment for your child and affect you differently. Because of it, you have to consider carefully with whom you should leave your child while you are away.

Narcoterrorism Definition and Examples
The term ââ¬Å"narcoterrorismâ⬠is often attributed to Peruââ¬â¢s president Belaunde Terry in 1983, to describe attacks by cocaine traffickers against the police, who suspected that the Maoist rebel group, Sendero Luminoso (Shining Path), had found common ground with cocaine traffickers. It has been used to mean violence waged by drug producers to extract political concessions from the government. The most famous example of this was the battle waged in the 1980s by Pablo Escobar, head of the Medellin drug cartel, against the Colombian government by way of assassinations, hijackings, and bombings. Escobar wanted Colombia to revise its extradition treaty, which it eventually did. Narcoterrorism has also been used to refer to groups understood to have political intentions that engage in or support drug trafficking to fund their activities. Groups such as the Colombian FARC and the Taliban in Afghanistan, among others, fall into this category. On paper, references to narcoterrorism of this sort suggest that trafficking merely funds a distinct political agenda. In fact, the drug trafficking and armed violence by group members can become an autonomous activity to which politics is secondary. In this case, the only distinction between narcoterrorists and criminal gangs is the label.
